Day 9 - Fuente Amador, Panama (Day 1)

Sunday, We passed through the Panama Canal from the Caribbean to the Pacific. This is my 4th time to do this transit. We had nice weather though it was very hot. We had a little bit of excitement as we passed through the last lock which has the visitor center next to it. Earlier in the day we were told that new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in town meeting with Panamanian President Jose Raul Molina and that they would be visiting the visitor center about the time we passed through that lock.

And a Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Cindy.

Approaching then Atlantic Bridge completed in 2019

Passing under the bridge.

We will go through the old locks in  the the right channel. Large ships that don't fit the old locks will use the new chanel and locks  (more expensive!)

We had a delay of over an hour as there was some sort of issue with the right side locks.

Finally the ship in front of use was able to enter the first lock

No sunset seen tonight.  In the foreground  is the new Cruise Terminal gates walkway. This was under construction when we we here in January 2023,
