Day 22 - At sea (was supposed to be Antofagasta, Chile)

Saturday morning we were supposed to be docking at Antofagasta, Chile at 7:00 AM. I went out about 5:45 AM to see what the weather was like and how close to port we were to the port. There  was nothing in site so I checked an App I have on my phone that shows where the ship  is and  alternate  what what speed and direction it was moving. It showed we were heading south past the port and running at a normal cruising speed. It soon became apparent we were not stopping there. At 8 AM the captain announced we would not be stopping because there was no suitable pier for us to dock at. The scheduled pier was occupied by a large car carrier. The alternate pier they then assigned was not suitable because  of tide and pier height, we could only dock there with our port side to the pier but the ship was not allowed  to turn around or back into the pier to get the proper side to the pier. No other option were suitable to the  harbormaster so  with ourthe captain had to cancel this port and continue on to our next port. We will now arrive there half a day early. The sea swell started about 4-6 Ft but increased during the day but the ships stabilizers did their job and we had a smooth ride.

No sunrise to see  this morning.

At the Coffe Chat this morning the cruise director (middle) interviewed the Captain (left) and Hotel Manager (right)  about what happened this morning.

Where we were Saturday afternoon.

Seas were getting rougher and we could see whitecaps.

Sunset approaching.

The swell hitting the side of the ship

Another Peruvian Booby cruising along with us.
