Day 18 - General San Martin (Pisco), Peru

 Tuesday our stop was for Pisco, Peru. The port is across the bay from the city.  Our excursion was "Paracas National Reserve.. This protected area covers most or a peninsula.  It is mostly a desert - the second driest desert in the world (about 1.5.mm annually).  The driest is south of here in northern Chile, Our next stop Thursday Arica, Chile is near that Atacama is the driest with about 1.3 mm rain a year.

After visiting the Reserve, we went to visit  the Pisco 1615 - Bodega distillery. The famous drink from this area is the Pisco Sour.  Pisco is distilled from grapes.

This surf  with water going bothe in and out at same time causes strong riptides. The beach is names Devils Beach.

A small island offshore is covered with bird guano. It is harvest to make fertilizer.
