Day 8 - Puerto Limon (San Jose), Costa Rica

 

Saturday, we were in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, We have been here once before. Our excursion todays was "Monster Bus and Rainforest Expedition".

It didn't turn into much.

The pier normal used buy cruise ships (where we docked last time we were hre)e. Because of heavy winds, we docked at a more sheltered industrial pier next to it..

In the suburbs of the city.

Out transportation - The Monster Bus. It was designed and built buy the owners of the tour company.

The first sloth we have seen in the wild. Last time here were toured a Sloth Reserve.

A couple of Howler Monkeys sitting on a branch.

They raise water buffalos here for the meat. There had egrets alons side.

The streams were  out of their banks, We we told they were normally 1;2 to 1;2 this size and clearly

WE passed a bananna plantaion. This one is contracted with Dole.

He moved around VERY SLOWWWLY

They had had heavy rain the day before we got there. They was a lot of flooding and high rivers/streams.

We retuened to town by the coastal road. We saw our ship in the haze and a heavy surf along the beach.

Back to the ship.

After we had lunch, I went out and walked around the town some. There was a park across the street from the port entry.

There were sloths in gthe trees in the park

Sailing away we past the small island where Christopher Columbus is alleged to have landed in what is now Costa Rica in this 4th voyage to America.

Sail way, I didn;t see the sunset as we were eating dinner.
