Day 14 - Salaverry (Trujillio), Peru

 Friday, our port of call was Salaverry, Peru. This is the port city for Trujillo which is the 3rd largest city in Peru.  This is our second time here. Our Excursion today was "Trujillo Archeology and Paso Horses". We rode in a bus1/2 hour north to the Mocho Valley near Trujillo, to visit an area were there are 2  adobe brick pyramids built by the pre-Iinca Moche civilization in the period 100 to 800 AD.

The other  pyramid "Temple of the Sun" (Huaca de la Sol) was originally taller  but has eroded over the centuries.  It is believed to have ben the administrative center of the complex.  It was partially destroyed and looted by the Spanish conquistadors in the 7th century
