Day 17 - Callao (Lima), Peru (Day 2)

On our second day in Lima, we did an excursion called "Cathedral, Casa Garcia Alvarado & Monastery"

On our ride to Limas historical center (A UNESCO World Heritage site) web pass some archeological sites

There are a number of small mountains in Lima

The Lima Cathedral  is the seat of the Archdiocese of Lima. Construction began in 1535 and finished in 1797 















Francisco Pizarro is in a sarcophagus here.

The building is notable for it's continuous  balcony

Next we went to the Santo Domingo Convent

Next we wnet to the Casa Garcia Alvarado for a tour and refreshment.. 








The owner of the house  - Mrs. Ana Maria Garcia Alvarado met and talked with us. The house was built in 1912 by her grandfather. She lives across the courtyard in another part of the building.

Back to the ship - se saw the vendors packing up their eares

Many gulls flying around us as we sailed out. This is a Kelp Gull.
