Tuesday was our first of two days in Amsterdam. We did not have any excursion booked for the first day and we just walked around the city near the cruise terminal. Amsterdam's main train station is near.
This is a special day. Holland America Line celebrates it's 150the anniversary of it's founding. IA gala dinner party were heldon our ship and onr the Rotterdam which was docked in Rotterdam down the coast.
First sight of the coast. The town of Ijmuiden sits at the entrance to the North Sea Canal which leads to the city of Amsterdam. There are locks between the north sea and the canal that we had to pass through
The entrance to the canal. We used the left older smaller one.. The one to the right is fairly new (opened in 2022) and is the largest Sea Lock in the world.
We tied up before they changed the water level.
Looking back a the lock we passed through.
