Wer left Reykjavick at 6:00 AM Thursday headed for Greenland. We were informed Friday Morning that we would be skipping our stop at Nanortalik because the ice was too heavy at the entrance to and in the fjord leading there. We would have a 3rd day at sea. We were then told that the order of the 3 remaining Greenland ports would be switched because conditions would be much more favorable getting into each of them . Saturday evening as we were about to round the bottom of Greenland we stated to hit unexpected ice and the winds suddenly increased to at one point about 100 MPH and 20 foot seas. It was getting dark so the captain decided to turn around and head south-east to stay away from the ice until light in the morning. We managed to get through this area with no problems and a few icebergs were spotted.
