Day 98 - Brest, France

 Friday we stopped in Brest France. We missed this port in 2023 because of bad weather,

Our excursion today was "Brest's Beautiful Costline"


Where we were early Saturday morning as we approached Brest, France



















The ship turned some so I had to run tot the other side of the ship to see the rest of the sunrise.

We visited the Saint-Mathieu Lighthouse/\. It is located on a headland names St Mathieu Point.

The ruins of an old abbey also located here.

There is also a signal station near the lighthouse.

Then we stopped and a French butter biscuit shop to try some (and buy some)


Many signs here are French and Breton (an old Celtic language brough by by the people of western England, Irelkand  and Wales who moved here  to get away from the Normans who invaded England in 1066.




Once we got back tot the ship from our excursion, I took a shuttle to the city center and walked around.
First I walked to the Chateau - on old fortification which is still a military base.

A Lift Bridge. Was at one th


The Pont de Recouvrance  lift bridge was the largest in Europe until 2008. It isnick-named  "The Guillotine" bridge becaue looking at the  nds it looks like a French Guillotine

A beautiful park along the crest of th  hill thta the city center sits on

Naval Monument was erected by the United States to commemorate the achievements of the naval forces of the USA and France during the world war





I could see the top of our ship from the hill
