Day 107 - Trondheim, Norway / Scenic Cruising of Trondheimsfjord

     Sunday our stop was at Trondheim which sits on Trondheim Fjord. It dates back to the 11th century. It has a population of about 212,000. It houses the largest university on Norway/. It was the capitsl of Norway from the Viking age up to  1217.

Our excursion today was: "A Walk Through Trondheim Old & New"

We got a fireboat water greeting because it is this ship's first time here.





This island was a prison then a military fortification during the war

We gat entertainment. There was a Jazz festival going on and this group was in town for it

A tower of the Nidaros Cathedral is a Church of Norway cathedral built over the burial site of King Olav II who reigned over Norway 1015-1028 and who  became the patron saint of the nation . It is the site of Royal Coronations. It is the northern-most medieval cathedral in the world











In early May the Cathedral is the site of many confirmations of baptismal grace of children entering adulthood . Many parents dress in tradition clothing for the event.
