Thursday, our stop was at Parintins in the Amazonas state of Brazil, We went ashore mid morning on tenders supplied by the port. Holland America arranged for at show after lunch for passengers only of a Brazilian folk festival called Boi Bumba (or Bumba Meu Boi). This is the performance of the story of a resurrected ox through music, dance and theatrical performances., The actual festival occurs over 3 days in June each year and they have a stadium here specifically for this festival. Each year there are 2 competing teams (Red and Blue) competing . Our performance was by last year's winning Red team and was held at the convention center here.
If you would like more information on this festival look at this Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parintins_Folklore_Festival
