Day 68 - Manaus, Brazil - Day 2

For our second day in Manaus, we chose the excursion "Flora and Fauna of Manaus". The day started with rain but that let up so we only had a few light showers while we we out on our excursion. We went to 2  locations on opposite ends of the city. The first was the "Military Zoo".(  CIGS Zoo - Warfare Instruction Center of the Jungle Zoo). This is a zoo  and wildlife rescue center used by the Brazilian Army for jungle survival and militray tactics. It has over 200 animals of the Amazon fauna. Then we went to INPA - National Institute of Amazonian Research. It has enclosures for rescued Amazonian Manatees, giant otters and other animals.  It also has free-roaming monkeys, sloths and anteaters in the park.
