Sunday, we were supposed to be in Madagascar bur Cyclone (Hurricane) Freddy decided to be in the area so that port was cancelled. The seas looked rough but we did not feel the pitching and rolling too much.
First light
The colors disappeared as we waited for the sun to appear
The sun peeped out from around the clouds but we did not see it clearly until later in the day.
rougher seas today
This shows that path of Cyclone Freddy as it approached Africa and all it's changes in direction after it got there. Winds of about 160 mph were reported out in the middle of the Indian ocean as it crossed from north-west of Australia.
A closer look at the area we are in. The island of Madagascar is on the right side. Freddy was aiming at crossing Madagascar again but forecasts have it turning around again Monday and heading north-west into northern Mozambique. Winds Sunday evening were about 50 mph (the larger green dot) and are forecast to increase to at least 90 mph by Friday. We we headed for Maputo which is at the south end and should not be affected by Freddy. Forecast for Maputo on Wednesday when we will be there is partly clouding and no rain.
What I saw about sunset time (6:05 PM local time) .
