Day 31 - Tauranga, New Zealand

Friday we were in Tauranga, New Zealand.  We spent the day with a cousin of mine who has lived  harbor. It i here all her life. First we took a walk to the top of Mount Maunganui. It is an extinct volcano which sits at the entrance  to the harbor. It is 761 feet tall. It is known as  Mauao in Maori, It last erupted in 1886 The town of  Mount Maunganui sit at the base of the volcano and is a suburb of Taranga. We walked up to the top in 2019 when we were here and decided to do it again

We stopped for lunch here

And I had a local beer

Jennette took me to a lookout over the area next

At there house. they have beautiful flowers with many Monarch butterflies

Some of them are so tame they will sit on their fingers

They grow kiwi fruit here

  3. It took us about 2 1/2 hour to get up to the top and back. Runners can do it in less than 3/4 hour. We took our time.
