Day 5 - Puerto Limon (San Jose), Costa Rica

 

Saturday  Jan 7 our stop was at Puerto Limon in Costa Rica. The morning started we is setting moon when an average sunrise. First  thing we had a few frigate birds flying overhead. WE docked next to another Holland America ship - The Vole dam, which is starting at South America and Antarctica itinerary. Befor   Our excursion here was called "Meet the Sloths". We traveled about an hour south of the port to the  Sloth Sanctuary

we saw howler mockeys in the trees along the g]road while driving to the sanctuary



First we went for a canoe ride on the Estrella River

I haven't figure out what this bird is yet.

The sloths. 
These ones have medical issues or were orphaned when very young and did not learn to survive in the wild. Many others are not in public view and the goal is for them to return to the wild if able.
