Day 118 - Cobh (Cork), Ireland

Monday, May 1, we were in Cobh, Ireland (pronounced  " Cove"  as in Gaelic bh  sounds like a V) which is the port town for Cork.  May Day is a bank holiday here so there were many locals around the harbor.

Colorful houses here also.

Cobh was the last port that Titanic stopped before it's tragic transatlantic crossing

After touring around Cork, we drove  about 1/2 hour out to the town of Middleton to visit thr Jameson Whiskey Distillery. The original distillery started in 1780 was under a different name but changed to Jamerson

At least 81 Martello Towers were built around Ireland  between 1802 and 1808 becasue they feared that Napolean were going to invade. This one has been converted into a house. They are not allowed to add any windows so some have big skylights on the top.

After we got back to the ship, several of us went on a pub crawl near where the ship docked

This old building is now a Chinese restaurant.

Then to a third pub.
