Seydisfjordur is located on the central east coast of Iceland. It sites at the inner end of a short fjord with the same name. It is a fishing village with a population of about 675.

We arrived several hours earlier than planned because of several medical emergencies overnight, An ambulance net us when we docked
a tall waterfall next to the town
I climbed part way up the outflow of the waterfall

first stop on our excursion was an old Viking church archeological site
Next we went the the Skalanes Nature and Heritage Center
it is at the entrance to the fjord
We walk d through the reserve with a guide

our guide giving us information
We sited our first puffin
then two
a boardwalk up to an observation platform
and more puffins - a whole colony
on the observation deck
birds out in the ocean
back to the reserve headquarters

our guide shows us eider down from the eider ducks in the reserve. The ducks pluck down from themselves to line their nest. Some of this is collected to sell
very soft
waterfalls
back onboard the ship as we sail out of the fjord
