Today we visited Townsville, Australia on the central east coast. A few months ago they had severe flooding cause by very heavy rains. Our excursion today was to visit a Billabong Sanctuary. A billabong is the Australian name for a backwater created when a river floods the recedes trapping the water in a pond. They have many native Australian animals on display. Then we went to the top of Castle Hill, a 900+ ft granite rock for a good view of the city.
